The Turnbull Home Foundation

The Turnbull Home Foundation was originally established in 1900 when William Wallace Turnbull bequeathed a sum of money in his will to establish a home in the City of Saint John for individuals whose diseases were pronounced incurable. Funds raised go toward capital, equipment expenditures, and all other needs of the Home, enhancing the lives of residents. The Foundation is a registered charity governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board is comprised of members of the Turnbull family and local residents, all of whom bring experience, knowledge, and skill to the Foundation. The Turnbull Home Foundation follows strict governance guidelines and practices.

The generosity of former residents, their families, and others has contributed to the loving care of our residents for decades. Those interested in planned giving can combine charitable donations with tax advantages to support services and programs at the Turnbull Nursing Home not covered by government funding.

Planned giving offers several benefits:

Enriches the lives of residents through enhanced services and programs.

Allows the donor to leave a legacy.

Provides substantial tax benefits for the donor or the donor’s estate.

Tax Advantages:

Charitable donations, both immediate and deferred, are encouraged by the Canadian tax system.

Planned giving helps offset income tax or estate tax.

Charitable tax receipts are issued immediately for gifts of cash.

For gifts of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or RRSPs, a charitable tax receipt reflects the security's value on the date of the gift.

Life insurance donations result in a tax receipt for the cash surrender value on the gift date, as well as any remaining premiums paid by the donor.

To make a planned gift, please direct all contributions to the Turnbull Home Foundation. Cash donations can be made directly by the donor, while donations of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, RRSPs, and life insurance should be arranged in consultation with a financial planner.

Thank you for your ongoing support. It truly helps us enhance the lives of our residents.
